Crucial primaries unnocticed by CSUSB students

    Many CSUSB students are unaware and unprepared for the state primaries to be held tomorrow, June 8. Students are not the only ones that have voter apathy when it comes to the primaries. Citizens as a whole are more likely to vote in the general elections in November than in the primaries.

University philanthropists honored with doctorates

     Together Betty M. Barker and James R. Watson have contributed over $38 million to various educational programs at CSUSB and both will receive an Honorary Doctorate Letters degree at two separate commencements this year.

    New problems for British Petroleum (BP) arise while efforts to contain the oil spill continue. The Gulf spill has officially been declared “the worst environmental disaster in American history,” according to csmonitor.com. This spill has already killed 11 and the total cost of loss continues to rise despite efforts to stop the leak.

Project Reverberate echoes hope

Students and local foundation partner up to raise awareness

    Mahatma Gandhi said, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world,” and for a public relations class at CSUSB the students did just that. Project Reverberates goal was to spread awareness about the Andre Sobel River of Life (ASRL) Foundation, a nonprofit organization designed to help single parents with ill family members, and to influence our generation to help those in need.

Saving the quarter system saves students

    There has been speculation by some faculty and staff about changing the 10 week quarter system to the s16 week semester system that most of the other CSU's have.

Green lessons from the Gulf

    The recent oil spill in The Gulf of Mexico creates questions as to why politicians had to cut funding for oil companies and why the former Bush administration ignored necessary safety precautions at oil rigs. It is known that British Petroleum representatives made some of their workers engage in tasks that were unsafe to speed up projects even if it were hazardous, as reported by CNN.
